The Fallacy of a False Trade-off

When looking at the current pace and progress of international climate negotiations, option 3 (‘die’) seems humankind’s most likely fate. But hopefully that only is a false perception. False is also the tradeoff implied by the heading above. There is no doubt that we have to invest in both adaptation and mitigation. Nevertheless, the question is legitimate as it deals with the emphasis of our efforts. Ultimately, managing the problem of climate change will require the weighing of different kinds of risks arising from climate change, adaptation and mitigation.
